Al Leake's 1956 Giulietta Spyder Monaposto set a world sales record for this model at at the 1991 Monterey Auctions... with a sales price of $47,500.00!

His personal 1957 Giulietta Spyder Sophia has won over 20 SCCA championships, set 16 lap records and won 167 races.

In 2000, the Spyder Sophia went through a complete retrofit - back to her 1957 form. Her red exterior was changed to black like Al's original SCAA racer

The Sophia's debut as a vintage racer came at the Wine Country Classic (2002) where she set the fastest lap of all production cars including Corvettes, 300SL's, Ferraris, and Jaguars. Al's Sophia must be the winningest racer in Alfa Romeo's nearly one hundred year history and may well have won more races than any other production-based race car.
